The Swiss Institute for Business Economics SIB is a training center in Zurich . It carries out further training and qualification programs for specialists and managers from lower to middle management. As a higher technical college for business , the institute offers federally recognized courses of study.

history

The institute comes from the "Courses for Young Commercial Managers" held at the end of 1950 and was founded in 1963 by the Swiss Commercial Association as the "Swiss Institute for Higher Commercial Education" with Albert Märki and Victor Bataillard as founding directors.

Under Victor Bataillard, the SIB introduced the Higher Business and Administration School (HWV) in Zurich in 1968. In 1969 Bataillard published the SIB management model together with Werner Fuchs. The model combines management by delegation ( Harzburg model ) and management by objectives ( Peter F. Drucker ).

After training centers in Zurich-Altstetten and Stettbach , the institute moved to the new Sihlhof training center in Zurich in 2003. The Sihlhof is located in the Europaallee area and Zurich main station and also serves as a sub-campus of two Zurich universities of applied sciences (ZFH) , the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (HWZ) and the Zurich University of Education (PHZH) . In 2008 the SIB founded the first Higher Technical College for Marketing (HFMK) and launched the "House of Marketing and Communication" in 2013 together with the Zurich School of Economics (HWZ) .

In 2015 it was announced that Peter Petrin, head of the institute for ten years, would step down and take over as future rector of the Zurich School of Economics (HWZ) in January 2017 . Michel Vinzens, who had previously worked as head of the diploma studies at the SIB for five years, was elected to succeed the institute.

The school is a member of the Higher Technical Schools for Business and the International Group of Controlling and is EduQua certified.
