Breeding and nature

Scifresh cut through.

It is a cross from New Zealand between the varieties Gala and Braeburn . The variety is grown in New Zealand and select areas in Europe and the United States for year-round availability. The jazz apple comes in the trade as medium-sized and stem-bellied. The body color is orange and red. Its flesh is firm, the taste juicy and sweet, as it contains more sugar and less acid than the Braeburn.

According to the Darmstadt Jazz Institute , the breeder, a jazz fan , named him after his favorite music "because it tastes as tangy as a Parker solo sounds."
