Scomadi
Scomadi is a British manufacturer of scooters .
history
The founding of Scomadi Ltd was done in 2005 by Frank Sanderson and Paul Melici, both of which can look back on a long experience in the industry. Sanderson is the company owner Scooter Innovation Ltd and Melici owns PM Tuning Ltd . When, after the joint construction of several hand-made replica vehicles of a Lambretta, these could be sold surprisingly well and further vehicles were made due to demand, the decision was made to industrially manufacture a model with several engine variants.
Turismo Leggera
After several years of development, Scomadi presented a replica of the Lambretta at the Intermot 2014 motorcycle fair . The models called Turismo Leggera (abbreviated TL ), which are equipped with modern technology, are optically based heavily on their role model. Modern motors from Sym are used as the drive .
production
The vehicles were manufactured by Hanway in Changzhou (China) and then went through an extensive quality assurance process in England, which is why they were also given an English chassis number (VIN). Scomadi has not been building in China since 2017, production has been relocated to Thailand.
Planned engine from Piaggio
Originally it was planned to deliver the top model with an engine from Piaggio, but Piaggio failed to deliver, although Piaggio made an explicit effort to implement its engines in models from other manufacturers. According to rumors, Piaggio feared too much competition in the retro scooter market, in any case an already signed preliminary contract for the supply of engines was later not approved by the board of the Piaggio company.
