Sculpture by the Sea Aarhus was a temporary exhibition of sculptural work in Tangkrogen Park in Aarhus , Denmark , held every two years between 2009 and 2015. The exhibition goes back to 1997 in Sydney , Australia, founded the exhibition of sculptures Sculpture by the Sea along the coastline of Bondi Beach .

The patronage of Sculpture by the Sea Aarhus was taken over by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary . The first exhibition at Aarhus took place in 2009 and was visited by around half a million people. Crown Prince Frederik opened the event of 60 works of art by national and international artists. The works were set up over a length of three kilometers on the coastline near Aarhus. On June 2, 2011, Sculpture by the Sea Aarhus was opened by Crown Princess Mary. From June 5 to July 5, 2015, it took place for the fourth and last time with 58 sculptures. It will be replaced by the triennial The Garden - End of Times, Beginning of Times , which took place for the first time in 2017.
