Scutosaurus (Greek: "shield lizard") was a genus of Pareiasaurs , the fossils of which were found in the Upper Permian of Russia.

It reached a length of about two meters, like other Pareiasaurs, it had a massive bone structure and short, thick legs. The skull ornamentation, which is also typical for Pareiasaurs, was well developed, including rough ridges on the bone surface. The body was covered by osteoderms (bone plates) in loose transverse rows. The structure of the teeth suggests that it was herbivorous.

Scutosaurus achieved a certain fame through his appearances in the documentary " The Ancestors of the Saurians " and in the series " Primeval - Return of the Primeval Monsters ".
