CAMM ( C ommon A nti-Air M odular M issile) is a by European Rüstungsuntenrehmen MBDA for the UK -developed air defense system . The marine variant is called the Sea Ceptor .

technology

The anti-aircraft and missile defense system takes over components of the ASRAAM air-to-air guided missile and has an active radar seeker. In a later phase, the guided missile could also replace the ASRAAM .

The first launch from a truck took place in 2011 with a "cold launch", which means that the rocket is pneumatically ejected from its container before its cruise engine ignites. In the standard variant, the range is up to 25 kilometers, in the variant CAMM-ER (extended range) the range is increased by boosters.

Since 2015, components of the ship system have been retrofitted in frigates of the Duke class (Type 23) of the Royal Navy instead of the Sea Wolf and are also to be installed in the future City Class (Type 26).
