The Seal Rock ( English for seal rock ) is a cliff rock in the South Bay of Ross Island in the archipelago of the Antarctic Ross Islands .
Participants of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott named him after the Weddell seals observed here .
