Sean Ellis (Entrepreneur)

Sean Ellis is an American entrepreneur , investor and startup coach. He is the founder and CEO of the online marketing community growthhackers.com and previously served as CEO for Qualaroo before it was sold.

life and career

Sean Ellis became particularly well known when he coined the terms “Product / market fit” and “ Growth Hacking ”, together with Hiten Shah and Patrick Vlaskovits in 2010.

Sean Ellis said, “You have reached the product market fit as soon as 40% of your customers say that they would be very disappointed if the product was removed from them.” He says: “I always learn from the first 'Love users' 'I ask why they are using the product. From there I work with the product team to bring their favorite functions to the fore ”.

Sean Ellis also defined the term “growth hacker” for the first time as “a growth hacker is a person whose exclusive goal is the growth of the customer base.” Recently “For me, growth hacking is an agile experimentation, i.e. a process to improve customer and To continuously drive sales growth. Sean Ellis attended the University of California , where he graduated in 1994.

Ellis was the chief marketing officer at LogMeIn and Uproar. He then became the first marketing expert at Dropbox , Lookout and Xobni. Today he is a startup coach for KISSmetrics and Eventbrite, a mentor at 500 startups and a board member at Mavenlink and SignNow. He also invested in Bitium.

Ellis also publishes articles for Entrepreneur Magazine and The Wall Street Journal .
