Sean Kevin O'Brien (born February 14, 1987 in Carlow ) is an Irish rugby union player . He plays as a striker in the back row .

He studied at University College Dublin , for whose rugby team he also played. Since 2008 he has played as a professional for Leinster Rugby , scoring 65 points in 65 games. His greatest achievement was winning the 2010/11 Heineken Cup .

For the Irish national rugby union team , O'Brien has played 18 times (10 points) since November 21, 2009. He participated in the Six Nations 2010 , Six Nations 2011 and the Rugby Union World Cup 2011 .
