Seatrade Shipmanagement BV is a shipping company in Groningen . It is the largest shipping company in the refrigerated shipping sector .
history
The company was founded in 1951 as Scheepvaartkantoor Groningen by five coastal ship owners . In the 1960s, the switch to reefer shipping began and in the 1970s the first three new reefer ships were commissioned. In 1973 the company changed to Seatrade Groningen BV In 1989 the shipping company Dammers & van der Heide was taken over . From 1993 to 1998 Seatrade Reefer Chartering worked under the name Scaldis Reefer Chartering for legal reasons - this branch of business moved from Groningen to Antwerp in 1998. In 2000 the Leeraner shipping company Triton Schiffahrtsgesellschaft came to Seatrade.
At times over 130 ships were looked after, today around 80 (including 70 own) container and refrigerated ships, multi-purpose dry freighters, conventional tankers and fruit juice tankers are managed . Seatrade's activities include nautical and technical management, crewing and financing of the ships.
