The Seatrade Color class is a class of reefer container ships operated by the Dutch shipping company Seatrade Shipmanagement . The company, based in Groningen, is the largest shipping company in the refrigerated shipping sector .
history
With the ships of this class, Seatrade is moving away from the previous philosophy of refrigerated ships . The ships are only designed for containers , mostly 40-foot refrigerated containers. The ships were built by the Chinese shipyard group Yangfan Group Co., Ltd, which was founded in 1952 as Zhoushan Shipyard.
Ship description
The ships of the class are around 185 m long, 30 m wide, designed for a draft of 9 m, measured with 24,905 GT and have a deadweight of 22,380 dwt.
They have five uninsulated cargo holds with a total volume of 44,771 m³. The container capacity of the ships is 2,259 TEU. If they are homogeneously loaded with 14 t containers, they can load 1,580 TEU. There are 674 power connections available for refrigerated containers. The ships are equipped with three board cranes , each with a 45 t load capacity , for cargo handling .
The deckhouse with the bridge , the engine room , the mess rooms, lounges, cabins and the galley is located in the aft ship . A low- speed two-stroke six-cylinder diesel engine of the type MAN B&W 6G60ME-C9.5, which was built under license from Hudong Heavy Machinery Co. and operates on a fixed-pitch propeller, is used for propulsion . With the nominal speed of 97 / min it has an output of 13,100 kW and gives the ships the nominal speed of 19 knots . The volume of the fuel tanks is around 2,255 m³.
A total of four diesel generators are available for power supply. Two of these medium-speed four-stroke diesel engines produce 1,881 kW each ( apparent power : 2,351 kVA ) and two each 1,254 kW (apparent power: 1,567 kVA). This means that a total of 6,270 kW of electrical power is available to supply the refrigerated containers and the ship's auxiliary operations. The emergency generator has an output of 170 kW (apparent power: 213 kVA). Two steam boilers with a nominal pressure of 11 bar were installed for fuel preheating and living space heating.
