Sebastian Calw (born March 18, 1600 in Heilbronn ; † May 16, 1673 ibid) was Mayor of Heilbronn from January 2, 1650 until his death in 1673 .

Life

Calw had been a member of the court since September 4, 1628 and belonged to the small, inner council ( from the burgers ) since October 27, 1638 . He was tax master from March 18, 1643 and became mayor on January 2, 1650.

On August 5, 1636, Calw acquired the house of the former mayor Johann Philipp Orth in Klostergasse for 1350  florins. His first marriage was to Anna Maria Becht, the daughter of mayor Simon Weinmann the Younger . Anna Maria was the widow of Mayor Georg Becht . In his second marriage he married Anna Maria Imlin, the widow of the grandson of Mayor Clement Imlin . This resulted in children: Sebastian Calw the Younger and Maria Elisabeth. Maria Elisabeth later married the son of the mayor Conrad Spölin and the granddaughter of the mayor Balthasar Aff . The family ties testify to the close ties between the patrician families ruling in the imperial city of Heilbronn.

The Calws originally come from Malmsheim (near Renningen) and have been documented in Heilbronn since 1595. The family's coat of arms shows a large lion.
