Live and act

From 1881 to 1888 Sebastian Diernreiter attended the Schnaitsee elementary school , then the advanced training school until 1891. In the following years he worked in agriculture. He also devoted himself to private studies, particularly in the field of economics . In 1912 Diernreiter, who had been married since 1906, moved into the Second Chamber of the Bavarian State Parliament for the first time . He was a member of this until 1918 as a member of the Center Party.

From 1914 to 1918 Diernreiter took part in the First World War with the rank of company sergeant, later as platoon leader . After his return from the war, in which he received several awards, Diernreiter continued his career as an active politician. He moved from the center to the Bavarian People's Party (BVP). For this he was a member of the Reichstag from 1920 to May 1924 as a member of the electoral district 27 (Upper Bavaria-Swabia) and from December 1924 to July 1932 as a member of the constituency 24 (Upper Bavaria Swabia; new constituency allocation) . From 1920 to 1924 he also held the office of Secretary of Parliament. In 1919 he became a district council member and in 1924 a local council member.

In addition, Diernreiter was editor of the magazine Der Motor and author of numerous articles in the Bayerischer Bauernblatt as well as founder and chairman of several economic cooperatives (loan funds, motor fuel, animal breeding, pasture management and drainage cooperatives). After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he moved in 1933 back from politics. In 1935 he changed his last name to Dürnreuther. His autobiography, completed in 1952, entitled “Political Memories and Bavarian Evenings”, remained unpublished.
