Sebasticook and Moosehead Lake Railroad

The Sebasticook and Moosehead Lake Railroad is a former railway company in Maine ( United States ). It was founded on July 24, 1886. Your only route is 15 miles long, standard gauge , and leads from Pittsfield , where there was a connection to the main line of the Maine Central Railroad , to mainstream . After just a few months of construction, the company opened the section to Hartland in 1886. However, it was not until 1901 before the Pittsfield – Mainstream line could be completed. Plans for a continuation to Elliotsville, Monson or Greenville in the north and to Albion in the south were not implemented. The company struggled with financial problems and was finally bought by the Maine Central Railroad on July 1, 1911. A short time later, this extended the route by another four kilometers to Harmony . Today the line is closed and dismantled.
