Radislav Krstić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Радислав Крстић ; born February 15, 1948 in Vlasenica , Yugoslavia ) was Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Commander of the Drina Corps of the Army of the Republika Srpska in the Bosnian War from October 1994 to July 12, 1995 . He was promoted to brigadier general in June 1995 . On July 13, 1995, he took command of the Drina Corps .

The Srebrenica massacre occurred in an area under the responsibility of the Drina Corps, a corps of the Army of the Republika Srpska. Radislav Krstić was a division general in the Army of the Republika Srpska and commander of the Drina Corps.

Radislav Krstić was arrested by SFOR soldiers on December 2, 1998 and transferred to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia the following day . There he was sentenced to 46 years in prison. In 2004, the appeals chamber of the same tribunal came to the ruling that Krstić should not be prosecuted for genocide but for complicity in genocide and reduced the sentence to 35 years in prison. He has been serving this sentence in Great Britain since late 2004 .
