Sebau-mehu was originally the ancient Egyptian name of the eighth dean star image in the Old Kingdom , which consisted of three stars . It was initially mentioned in the groove book of the dean list of Seti I , but has not been taken into account in the later dean lists since the advent of the diagonal star clocks in the Middle Kingdom .

In the Old Kingdom, the classic celestial image, which was only divided into southern and northern stars, still applied. The deans listed in each case date from their heliacal ascents. Due to the change in the dean system made in the Middle Kingdom, the dean star image Sebau-mehu no longer met the requirements with regard to the acronychic culmination or the acronymic entry into the duat .
