The thirty-six empires of the Western Regions ( Chinese  西域 三 十六 国 , Pinyin Xiyu Sanshiliu guo , English Thirty-six Kingdoms of the Western Regions ) from the time of the Han Dynasty are a collective term for a group of historical non-Chinese states (feudal principalities and nomadic tribes) of the so-called "western regions" (cf. Xiyu ) in what is now China . At the latest in the Tang Dynasty , all came under Chinese control.
