Secret Rabbit Code ( SRC , also known as libsamplerate ) is a free program library for converting the sampling rate of PCM audio data.

It supports a number of interpolation methods for the conversion with different tradeoffs between audio quality and processor performance requirements. In addition to ZOH and linear interpolation (FOH), Sinc interpolations of different quality can be used. There is a language connection for the programming language OCaml .

It is developed by Erik de Castro Lopo ("Mega Nerd") in the programming language C and has no runtime dependencies on other software except libc6 .

The library is distributed as free software also in the source code under the conditions of the 2-clause BSD license. Until 2016, the library was under version 2 or higher of the GNU General Public License (GPL), with additional commercial licenses offered for a one-time payment of 1,000 Australian dollars . It is platform-independent and is known to run problem-free on Linux , Mac OS X , 32-bit Windows and Solaris systems . It can be installed directly from the standard package sources for all popular Linux distributions . It is considered very high quality and is used in a number of free audio software including PulseAudio , JACK , Ardor , Kino , the Music Player Daemon , Media Lovin 'Toolkit, and the VLC Media Player . An alternative to this library is therefore the not so high quality library libresample .

The first alpha version (0.0.0) was completed on October 6, 2002, the first release was the alpha version 0.0.12 from November 28, 2002.
