The Seebeck Monument is a memorial to the physicist Thomas Johann Seebeck in the Estonian capital Tallinn ( German  Reval ).

It is located on the grounds of the Tallinn University of Technology .

Design and history

The monument created by the Estonian sculptor Aime Kuulbusch was opened on May 24, 2013 on the occasion of the XV. International Thermoelectric Forum unveiled. Seebeck, who was born in Reval, is considered one of the founders of research into thermoelectricity . The monument was erected on the initiative of the International Thermoelectric Academy .

The monument consists of a 2.40 meter high stele-like sculpture symbolizing a short-circuited Seebeck thermocouple . On the front it shows a portrait of Seebeck and the inscription:

There is an extensive inscription on the back of the stele. Below the name
