In the automotive industry, General Motors and Ford were Gentherm's most important customers with a combined share of sales of 24% in the 2018 financial year. Starting in 2000, Ford built the company's “Climate Control Seat” systems into its Lincoln Navigator model . These built-in air conditioning systems can both heat and cool the seats of the passengers.

history

Gentherm was founded in 1991 under the Amerigon company in Irwindale , Southern California. From 2011, the Bavarian seat heating manufacturer WET Automotive Systems from Odelzhausen was taken over . After Gentherm's stake in WET Automotive Systems had risen to over 95% in June 2013, a squeeze-out of the remaining shareholders began. Individual complaints against the squeeze-out were rejected by a decision of the Munich Higher Regional Court of July 30, 2018, and the squeeze-out was then concluded.
