Northville is a small city that is in parts in Oakland County and Wayne County in the American state of Michigan . The place is for the most part in Oakland County, where it is surrounded by the city of Novi . Bordering communities include Livonia and Plymouth. Northville is located about 47 km northwest of Detroit and has a population of about 6,000.
history
The first settlement of Northville took place in 1825, and in 1867 it received the status of a village . For about 70 years, Northville was part of the Plymouth Township and got its current name due to its geographical northern location to Plymouth . In 1955 it was incorporated as the City .
In 1919 Henry Ford bought a factory building in which valves for Ford vehicles were built until they were resold in 1981 .
economy
The automotive supplier and medical technology manufacturer Gentherm (formerly Amerigon) is based in Northville. Gentherm produces and sells seat and steering wheel heaters for the automotive industry and cooling ceilings to induce therapeutic hypothermia .
