Dearborn Heights is a city in Wayne County in the southeast of the US -amerikanischen State of Michigan and part of Metro Detroit , the Metropolitan Region to Detroit . Dearborn Heights has a population of just under 60,000. (As of the 2000 census .)

Dearborn Heights was founded by merging two separate parts of Dearborn Township and a connecting piece of the Inkster community. The application for incorporation was submitted on March 4, 1960. The residents agreed to the incorporation on June 20, 1960, the official day of incorporation, and Inkster appealed against the merger, which was only decided by the Michigan Supreme Court in favor of Dearborn Heights on April 8, 1963.

Dearbon Heights has a land area of 30.4 km² and a population density of 1,919 km². The southern part of the city is the watershed of the northern arm of the Ecorse River. The area around the Ecorse is subject to flooding. The northern part of the city is the watershed of the Rouge River.
Demographics
According to the 2000 census, 58,264 people lived in 23,276 households and 15,782 families. The population density was 1,919 people per km 2 .
91.64% of the population are white, 2.12% are African American, Hispanics are 3.39%, and Asians are 2.24%. 0.37% are natives. 0.82% belong to other races and 2.81% belong to several races.
The proportion of the population under 18 years of age was 22.5%, 7.5% between 18 and 24 years, 29.5% between 25 and 44 years, 21.7% between 45 and 64 years. 18.7% was older than 65 years. For every 100 female residents there were 93.2 male residents.
The median household income was $ 48,222 and the median family income was $ 54,392.
