New Boston is a parish in Huron Charter Township, Wayne County in the United States in the state of Michigan . Huron Township consists of three separate parishes, the largest of which is New Boston and the two smaller ones are Willow and Waltz. Waltz and Willow are south of New Boston and are among the newer communities in the area. The Huron River flows south through downtown New Boston. The Interstate 275 runs right through the town.

history

New Boston was first mentioned around 1827 and was originally called "Catville". It received a post office of that name around 1860. On March 20, 1868, it was renamed New Boston. The origin of this name comes from Boston , Massachusetts .

Society and culture

New Boston is home to Gibbs Sweet Station, Mc Nasty's Saloon, Mary Anne's Family Diner, and the smaller township of Waltz is home to The Waltz's Inn. New Boston also holds the Apple Festival every October. The Apple Fest includes a parade and live entertainment. The Huron High School is also located in this area.
