Seekport was the search engine of the German Seekport Internet Technologies GmbH . Seekport Internet Technologies GmbH was a merger of Arexera Information Technologies GmbH ( Martinsried ) and xperience-at-work GmbH ( Hamburg ). The company's headquarters were in Martinsried, with a second branch in Hamburg. The company was founded in December 2003 with the help of Indian investors and has been operational since January 2004. An advertising campaign was started with the slogan “It googled itself, Seekport is here” . Bankruptcy was filed on April 10, 2008. On January 30th, 2009 the search engine went offline in all countries. For the company AllSearch GmbH , which wanted to continue part of the Seekport activities, insolvency proceedings were opened on January 20, 2009.

Seekport was available as regional versions for Germany , France , Great Britain , Spain , Italy and Austria . The search engine allowed truncated searches and the restriction of search results to the web , news, blogs or references. Searches could also be restricted to defined subject areas (politics, sport, business, etc.). The Seekport erotic filter was a special feature. For users who had not proven their age through registration, erotic content was filtered out of the search result .

The market share of Seekport was mid-2008, less than 0.1%.

In December 2014 SISTRIX GmbH , which offers tools and services for search engine optimization , took over the domain seekport.de . A rudimentary search interface is offered, the design of which is based on the classic Seekport style. Further information is not given (as of January 7, 2015).
