The site is located in the southern part of Holzwickede on the training area Hengsen-Opherdicke. The Ruhr flows directly south of the square . The airfield is located at an altitude of 125 meters above MSL and borders north directly to the control zone of the Dortmund airport .
The place is approved for the operating modes winch start , aircraft tow , motor glider and ultralight aircraft (UL). The 580 meter long northern runway is used for motorized take-offs and landings, while the southern runway with a length of 850 meters is available for glider operations.
The infrastructure of the field includes two aircraft hangars with lounge and workshop as well as a vehicle hangar and a parking lot. The flying season for soaring runs from April to November, with flying on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. UL operations take place all year round.
