The Klippeneck glider airfield is one of the oldest, most traditional and largest in Germany in the district of Denkingen in the Tuttlingen district . In 1928 Wolf Hirth , Prince Schaumburg-Lippe and Marga von Etzdorf made their first flight attempts on the neighboring Dreifaltigkeitsberg . In 1932, Rudolf Hakenjos from nearby Schwenningen discovered the Klippeneck as a flying site. Soon there were regular air camps on the Klippeneck and several flight and work groups were formed in the vicinity around the Klippeneck. Soon afterwards, the Württemberg Aviation Association built the Rudolf-Hakenjos-Halle and other buildings for training and accommodation.

There are seven clubs with more than 60 stationed gliders at home on the glider airfield itself. Every year at the beginning of the summer vacation, the international Klippeneck gliding competition takes place. An airfield festival and the "Gliding Experience Day" are held alternately every two years.
