Kiripotib is a glider airfield in the Namibian Kalahari . The airfield opened in 2009. It is located on the Kiripotib farm of the same name at an altitude of 1366 m , 130 km southeast of the capital Windhoek on the district road D1448.
The airfield has two crossed runways and the runway surface is made of sand. The gliding activities take place mainly in the warm months of October to January. Kiripotib is served year-round by powered aircraft. The frequency is 123,700 MHz. The Bitterwasser glider airfield is located 60 km south of Kripotib .
Astro farm
Kiripotib is also an astro farm . Astrophotography was started on Kiripotib at the same time as the sailing activities in 2009. The winter months of June and July are the high season for astrophotography in Namibia. 11 km west of Kiripotib is the historic Klein Nauas Schutztruppe Tower .
