history

In 1924, the German Society for the Jeschken and the Iser Mountains , the former owner of the hotel on the Jeschkengipfel, Roman Wienberger, and the company Adolf Bleichert & Co. from Leipzig proposed to build a passenger lift to the Jeschkengipfel.

In the 1930s, the Czechoslovak State Railways acquired land on the Jeschken for a future lift station. Construction began in 1932. In June 1933 the lift went into operation, which has been operated by the Czechoslovak State Railways since 1945. Between 1953 and 1962 the lift was replaced by a cabin cable car, as it still exists in its current form. In 1971 operations were temporarily suspended. The railway was completely modernized between 1972 and 1975.
