The Darmstadt-Starkenburg section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) e. V. ( Alpine Club Darmstadt for short ) is a section of the German Alpine Club in Darmstadt . It was founded on April 27, 1870, just a short time after the main association. The Alpine Club Darmstadt-Starkenburg is therefore one of the oldest and with 12,648 members (as of December 31, 2019) also one of the largest sections of the German Alpine Club in 15th place and thus the largest section in Hesse and one of the largest before the Frankfurt am Main section Sports clubs in Germany .
