The Königsberg section of the German Alpine Club e. V. ( DAV Königsberg / Pr. For short ) was founded as the north-easternmost section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club in 1890 in the German provincial capital Königsberg in East Prussia . After the war-related destruction of the office in the Second World War and the expulsion of the population, club life ceased in 1944.

It was not until 1952 that the club was revived as a section of the German Alpine Club in West Germany. Today it is based in Munich and the majority of the more than 700 members (as of December 31, 2018) live in the region. She enjoys all the advantages of the Munich sections. She is a member of the sponsoring association for DAV climbing facilities as well as the Alpine Safety Service.

In the statutes, the association is committed to promoting mountaineering and alpine sports and protecting nature as well as maintaining the memory of the section's country of origin.

hut

The Königsberg / Pr. operates the Ostpreußenhütte , which was built in 1928 by the section on the eastern approach to the Hochkönig at an altitude of 1630 m. Many East Prussians descended from the Salzburg exiles who were expelled in the Wars of Religion up to 1732 . Objects in the hut are reminiscent of history.
