Champagne whisk

Stainless steel champagne whisk

A champagne whisk is a device used to reduce the carbonic acid content of beverages. He is not to be confused with the stirring rod (English Stirrer ), which partly in cocktails and other mixed drinks is used and with which the guest can stir his drink itself.

The sparkling wine whisk has the shape of a stick, from the lower end of which thin rods or wires emerge in the shape of a ball or star. It is mostly made of stainless steel . The device is similar to a small whisk , with which the carbon dioxide can be expelled from sparkling wine or other carbonated drinks by stirring and whisking .

The gas content of the sparkling wines produced today does not fluctuate as much as a few decades ago as a result of advances in production (in particular more precise dosing of the yeast and sugar quantities ), so that a subsequent reduction, for example through the use of a champagne whisk, usually does not fluctuate more is needed. Sparkling wine whiskers are therefore rarely used today, for example by people who cannot tolerate carbon dioxide.

In the catering industry , especially in bars , champagne whisks are rarely used as a bar tool in the production of cocktails . A similar tool, but more closely related to the kitchen whisk , are swizzle sticks carved from wood . They are used to quickly stir and cool some tropical drinks, the swizzles , with crushed ice.
