The secondary school Kreuzau / Nideggen is a partially integrated secondary school with locations in Kreuzau (head office) and in Nideggen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Based on the recommendations of the school development plan for the Düren district, a project group consisting of representatives from the Kreuzau and Nideggen municipalities, together with the school management there, has been working on the conceptual preparation of a community or secondary school. In the 2012/13 school year, the Kreuzau / Nideggen secondary school started in six classes. The opening ceremony in Nideggen took place in the presence of School Minister Sylvia Löhrmann . In June 2018, the first class was dismissed. In September 2018 the "Quality Analysis" NRW checked the school with excellent results.

School profile

The school encompasses grades 5–10 at both locations and is a tied all-day school at which all secondary school qualifications can be obtained. The pupils are prepared for vocational training and / or the higher education entrance qualification, since from year 5 onwards they work according to high school standards. A second foreign language is offered from year 7. In year 9, as in the grammar school or comprehensive school, there is the opportunity to learn another foreign language. With the acquisition of the required qualification at the end of year 10, school attendance at one of the contractually bound cooperation schools (grammar school of the Kreuzau community, vocational colleges of the Düren district: vocational college for commercial schools, vocational college for technology Düren, Nelly-Pütz-Schule Düren) or at one other upper secondary school levels can be continued up to the Abitur.

The school offers extensive vocational preparation and all standard elements of “No qualification without connection” from grade 6. The school was certified as a national park school and is a “Euregio profile school” with the partner school Grotius College in Heerlen .

Pedagogical concept and special features

So-called multi-professional teams with social pedagogues , special educators and teachers work at the school in “joint learning” ( inclusion ). Study times largely replace homework, and the choice of up to three foreign languages (English, French, Dutch) is possible. All students receive support plans and there is an extensive advisory network. Since the school was founded, a school-specific school planner has been used.

Once a year, a meeting day is organized for all new students, also open days. Every year there is a project week and school trips in grades 6, 8 and 10.

The school takes part in numerous campaigns and competitions. For example, in 2018, as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage , she took part in an action to research the city walls of Nideggen in cooperation with the LVR Office for Monument Preservation in the Rhineland. In 2019, a group of students in Hürtgenwald-Simonskall took part in the “Bauhütte 2019 - a Bauhütte for cathedrals of the 21st century” campaign.
