Selahattin Akarsu

Selahattin Akarsu (* 1958 in Minekaraya , Sivas Province , Turkey ) is an Alevi singer and saz player .

Life

Selahattin Akarsu was born and raised in Minekaraya. In 1970 he received music lessons from his uncle, the Alevi singer and saz player Muhlis Akarsu . Together with his uncle, he released an album. His first solo album was released in 1992.

His uncle Muhlis Akarsu took part in the 4th Pir Sultan Abdal Festival in Sivas on July 2, 1993 . Islamists set fire to the Madimak Hotel, where the Alevi artists were staying. His uncle, his aunt and 35 other Alevi artists were burned in the attack . He wrote and sang many songs about this event in his albums.

Akarsu successfully gives concerts in Turkey and abroad such as in Germany , Switzerland , Luxembourg , Austria and France . Akarsu worked for the radio station FM for nine years, where he presented the program "Aşıklar Meclisi" and also appeared as a singer.
