The Selecta Spielzeug AG was a company offers, in addition to wooden toys for toddlers and children's decorations different child- and family-oriented games. Since October 2017 it has been taken over by Spieleverlag Schmidt Spiele , where the wooden toys are continued as an independent brand.

history

It was founded in 1968 by Tilmann Förtsch and Günther Menzel and is based in Edling near Wasserburg am Inn. In addition to memory-related games, puzzles and board games, which are primarily intended for small children, it also offers a product line for older players.

The company filed for insolvency in May 2017 due to insolvency. Selecta was taken over by Schmidt Spiele in October and the Selecta brand has been continued there ever since.

In 1989, Gute Freunde received the Game of the Year award - a special children's game award . The beetles' masked ball was children's game of the year in 2002 , Viva Topo! received the Japan Boardgame Prize for children's games in 2003 and was named Children's Game of the Year in 2003, and Mago Magino was awarded the Japan Boardgame Prize for children's games in 2005 . In 2006 and 2007, games by the publisher ( Pino Sortino , Rettet den Märchenschatz ! , Giro Galoppo ) were on the recommendation list at a special price for children, where they also appeared twice in 2009 with Curli Kuller and Zoowaboo .
