Seley is a flat rocky island off the East Fjords of Iceland .
It is located about 4 km from the north bank of Reyðarfjörður . Even if the name translates as Hütteninsel, there were no permanent houses there. People went to the island to catch the greenland shark , halibut and rays ( Skata / Kæst skata ). The ruins of the fishing huts still exist on Seley. Many eider ducks were breeding on the island. A lighthouse was built in 1956 and an unmanned weather observation station was added in 1996. The island belongs to the Hólmar farm on Hólmanes , the headland between Reyðarfjörður and Eskifjörður .
North of Seley is the small island of Hólmur and south of the archipelago Eyjarsker, Miðsker and Setusker.
