The Selkirche is the former church of the Selkenfelde desert near Stiege in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt .

Only small remains of the foundations of the church have survived. They are still easy to recognize, but are characterized by progressive decay. At least until the end of the 14th century, the Selkirche was likely to have been in use as a church, as a pastor was still occupied for Selkenfelde up to this point. It is believed that the place and with it the church became desolate in the course of the 15th century. The patronage of the church has not been handed down.

In a report from around 1840, the church is described as consisting of only a few, barely noticeable remains of the wall. In the years 1885 to 1887, H. Brinkmann excavated the church. He wrote:

“Even if the church is small, it is of great interest for this old cultural site in the Harz Mountains. The church belongs to the Romanesque style, i.e. no later than the XII. Century. It was only made of rubble and mortar (with work pieces made of sandstone ) and provided with a tile roof (Priepen). The burial site was located at the church, as has been shown by finds of human skeletal remains during the excavation. "

The remains of the church are located on or within what was probably originally a heaped up hill. The church is registered as part of the Selkenfelde desert under the number 428301069 as a ground monument. Today the Selke Valley Railway runs directly to the west of the facility .
