Areas of activity

Around 35 percent of the wind power plants installed annually worldwide are operated with technologies from Semikron. In addition to the developed technologies for renewable energies and electric vehicles, Semikron products are represented in industrial applications such as electric drives, industrial trucks, welding equipment, elevators, power supply systems, pumps, conveyor belts, trains and trams.

Technologies

Spring contacts enable electrical contact to be made without soldering, with increased reliability of the power semiconductor modules. Since there is no soldering , spring contacts are resistant to shock, vibration and corrosion and have a high resistance to temperature changes even in harsh environmental conditions. The controller can easily be attached to the module with screws, because the springs create electrical contact through the contact pressure.

By using pressure contact technology, several layers of solder can be dispensed with. As a result, modules in SKiiP technology have a lower thermal resistance , which means a longer service life.

PRESS-FIT technology is another alternative concept for soldering the module onto the circuit board. The solder-free version ensures the quick and easy connection of the module and the printed circuit board in a single operation and thus reduces the assembly time.

With SKiNTER technology, the chip is no longer soldered during bonding , but sintered , that is, connected by cold welding and therefore shows no signs of fatigue. In connection with SKiiP technology, solder can be dispensed with and the service life of the module is extended.

Social

In memory of the wife of the company founder Fritz Martin, the social association “Martin Care e. V ”founded in the 1980s. The association takes care of orphans in Brazil. Projects in India , South Africa and other parts of the world are also supported. The association is financed, among other things, through donations from employees and the sale of calendars.

In a company kindergarten in Nuremberg, Semikron offers the children of Semikron and the companies operating here 74 childcare places from the age of 1 to school entry. The kindergarten is open Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. and can be used flexibly. There are no closing days during the holiday season. Care is also offered for siblings during the holidays. The company kindergarten was opened by Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen at an opening ceremony on June 27, 2007.
