Semnani (Semnani / Persian سمنانی semnani ) is a Caspian language that belongs to the Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family and is close to Masanderan . It is spoken by about 60,000 people (2007) in the Iranian province of Semnan . Like other northwest Iranian languages, Semnani is a descendant of the Parthian language , which is now extinct. Often Semnani is only referred to as the Persian dialect, although the languages do not have the same ancestry. Like other Caspian languages , Semnani has significantly fewer Arabic and Turkic loanwords than Persian . There are some vocabulary and grammatical similarities with other Iranian languages as well.
