Sempervivum gillianii is a species of houseleek ( Sempervivum ) in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae). The specific epithet gillianii honors Gillian Meadows, who made drawings for an article on the genus Sempervivum .

Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum gillianii grows as a rosette plant with a diameter of 4 to 6 centimeters and forms short runners . The oblong spatulate, green leaves are spread out. They have pointed, deep brown, recurved tips. The leaf blade is about 30 millimeters long, 10 millimeters wide and about 3 millimeters thick.

Generative characteristics

The 13 to 15-fold flowers have a diameter of about 2.5 centimeters. Their ovate, lanceolate, pointed sepals are about 10 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide. The petals are greenish yellow, the stamens purple. The rounded nectar flakes are spread out.

Systematics and distribution

Sempervivum gillianii is distributed in Turkey in the north of Asia Minor on rocky limestone slopes at altitudes of 1800 to 2100 meters.

The first description by Clara Winsome Muirhead was published in 1969.
