The Sena Oura National Park ( French Park National Sena Oura ) is the youngest National Park of Chad . It was established in 2010 in the Mayo-Dallah department in the Mayo-Kebbi Ouest region on the border with Cameroon with the entry into force of Law 16 over an area of 735.2 km². Together with the Bouba-Ndjida National Park in Cameroon, it forms a biosphere corridor. It has been classified as Category II by the IUCN . The national park is managed by the local authorities and local dignitaries of the tribes.

The history that led to the establishment of the national park goes back to the mid-1980s, when the civil war in Chad caused large parts of the population to flee from the east to the quieter west of the country. With the increase in population, the pressure on the country's natural resources increased, which was expressed in the decline in forest areas, in overfishing of lakes and rivers and in the decline in soil fertility. In order to counteract this, the Dari Agreement was negotiated between local officials and dignitaries in 1995, in which the protection of the gallery forests was already resolved. In 2002, the Ministry of the Environment of Chad and the cantonal administration agreed to select an area that should be developed into a nature reserve. The project was financially supported by the Society for International Cooperation and a French society. In 2007 it was decided to develop the Sena Oura area into a national park under Law 14 and to incorporate it into a cross-border biosphere reserve , together with the Bouba Ndjida National Park. In 2008 this law passed the National Parliament, so that after two years of preparation, the National Park could be established in 2010.

The Sena Oura National Park is located in the vegetation zone of the Eastern Sudan savannah , accordingly loosened and extensive forests dominate, interspersed with dense bush vegetation and undergrowth of long-stemmed grasses and broad-leaved herbs. There are 16 endangered animal species in the national park, including the African elephant ( Loxodonta africana ), the lion ( Panthera leo ) and the cheetah ( Acinonyx jubatus ).
