Westerglen transmitter
The transmitter Westerglen is a transmitter at Westerglen Farm, 3 km southwest of Falkirk , a village about 50 kilometers northeast of Glasgow .
A transmission system for medium wave has been located near Westerglen since 1932. Four radio programs in the medium wave range are broadcast from Westerglen (transmission frequencies: 810 kHz, 909 kHz, 1089 kHz and 1215 kHz), for which three braced steel lattice masts insulated from earth are used as transmitting antennas.
A fourth mast, 152 meters high, was erected in 1980. It serves as a transmitting antenna for the long-wave transmitter on the frequency 198 kHz, which works with the transmitters in Droitwich and Burghead in single- frequency mode. It is a guyed steel framework construction with a triangular cross-section and carries a roof capacity at its tip to its electrical extension.
