The Senegalrack belongs within the family of the Racken (Coraciidae) to the genus of the Coracias ( Coracias ).
features
The Senegalrack is a slender, about 28–31 cm large (+ outer tail feathers of up to 12 cm) and 99–140 g heavy bird. It resembles the European blue roller with a pale blue head, white on the forehead and chin, dark beak and eye, light blue underside, blue on the wings and underside of the tail, dark blue on the shoulder, rump and upper side of the tail. The coat is brown-black. The young bird is paler, olive-brown on the back, with a rectangular tail without elongated outer tail feathers.
distribution and habitat
The preferred habitat comprises sparse dry forest , pastures , cereals and manioc in Africa south of the Sahara from sea level m to 1000th
nutrition
It feeds on larger insects and hunts from perch on trees.
Reproduction
The Senegalrack breeds between February and July, in Ethiopia between April and October, it is considered to be local and monogamous . It occurs individually or in smaller groups.
Hazardous situation
The Senegalrack is not considered to be endangered ( Least Concern ).
