The Racken or Raken (Coraciidae) are a family in the order of the Rackenvögel (Coraciiformes). There are two genera and thirteen species in this family. The main distribution area is in Africa . A few inhabit the moderately warm and tropical regions from Europe to Asia to Australia . Muds have a brightly colored plumage that is duller in the female. They have a stocky build, which resembles the crows , a relatively large head and long wings. The long strong beak is curved downwards. Rracks are insectivores and spot their prey from a viewing point. During courtship flights, the males perform acrobatic feats to impress a female.
