Senergy , later LR Senergy, was a Scottish company from Aberdeen , which specialized in underground exploration, well construction and operation, site surveying and geoengineering , as well as development solutions for plant construction and energy technology. It also managed with its expertise in the field of renewable energies .

Corporate development

The company was founded in 2005 "with 4 employees at one kitchen table" and in 2013 had over 750 employees. Fiscal 2012 sales were £ 121 million (up from £ 80 million in 2009). Senergy had offices in the UK, Norway, the Middle East, Malaysia, Australia, the US and Indonesia. A third of sales were generated from the development and sale of software. The insurers of the oil and gas drilling companies offered a premium reduction if specialists from Senergy accompanied the work.

In September 2013, the company was incorporated into the Lloyd’s Register conglomerate and was called "LR Senergy, A Member of the Lloyd’s Register group" until the complete merger in 2016. The CEO at that time was James McCallum.

Trivia

In 2011, the company's legal department at RTL in Cologne intervened to ensure that the name Senergy should not appear in the recently shot disaster film Bermuda Triangle North Sea . In the original version of the eco-thriller by director Nick Lyon (with Hannes Jaenicke in the lead role), a corrupt energy company called "Global Senergy" was responsible for dark machinations in the area of underground storage of CO 2 . This identity of names, even if the name was invented by the creators, was not ready to accept. The film was then changed.
