Senior Road Tower is a 600.7 meter tall VHF and TV transmission tower in Missouri City , Texas , United States . It was built in 1983 to replace a transmitter mast that collapsed in 1982.
In 1982 the entire transmission mast collapsed before it was commissioned. On December 7, 1982 a heavy antenna system was supposed to be lifted onto the mast, but the guy ropes could not withstand the load. Five workers died in the collapse. The tower was then rebuilt in 1983.
