Missouri City [ mɪˈzʊɹɪˌsɪtɪ ] is a city with 69,941 residents in the US state of Texas , partly in Fort Bend County and partly in Harris County . Missouri City is in the Houston catchment area .
history
Settlement of the area of today's city began in 1894 . It was slowed down by the devastating storms of 1895. In 1933 there were only 86 inhabitants, in 1940 about 100. The population only rose thanks to the proliferation of cars, which made it possible to commute to Houston . In 1970 there were already 4,136 inhabitants, in 1980 24,423.

Attractions
There are eight radio masts for VHF and TV at least 450 m high near Missouri City. Two of these structures, the 600.4 meter high Fox TV transmission mast and the 600.5 meter high KTRK TV transmission mast , are only 30 meters apart and, in the broader sense, form the tallest “twin towers” in the world. The KHOU TV transmission mast rises 602 meters in height.
