Senja Katriina Mäkitörmä (born May 31, 1994 in Varpaisjärvi ) is a Finnish athlete who specializes in the shot put.

Career

In 2016 she took part in the Finnish Indoor Championships in Tampere and took third place on February 28, 2016 in Katri Hirvonen's victory with a width of 14.61 meters. This secured her first national medal in the adult field. At the open-air championships of the same year, she took seventh place with a width of 13.89 meters. At the 2017 Finnish Indoor Championships, which were held in Jyväskylä , she was only able to take sixth place. In contrast, it was able to surprise at the open-air championships. On July 21, 2017 she won the qualification with a width of 14.80 meters and in the final, which was held on the same day, she had to admit defeat only Kaisa Kymäläinen with a width of 15.30 meters .

In 2018 she completed her collection of medals at the Finnish Indoor Championships in Helsinki . On February 17, 2018, she won the Finnish championship title in the shot put with a width of 16.27 meters. On July 21, 2018, she also secured the championship title outdoors. After she had already won the qualification the day before with a width of 15.41 meters, she also won the final with a width of 16.95 meters. Due to her good performance, she qualified for the European Athletics Championships 2018 in Berlin . In qualifying she only reached a distance of 16.04 meters and thus missed the final.
