Senka ( Japanese 宣化 天皇 , Senka-tennō ; * 467 ; † March 15, 539 ) was the 28th Tennō of Japan .

Senka was the second son of Emperor Keitai . After his brother and predecessor Emperor Ankan died without heirs in January 536, Senka became the 28th Emperor of Japan according to the rules of succession. When he ascended to the throne in January or February 536 he was already 69 years old, which explains his very short reign of only three years. After Senka also died childless, his younger brother Kimmei became his successor. His grave is probably the Toriya-Misanzai- Kofun ( 鳥屋ミサンザイ古墳 , 34 ° 28 '41.7 "  N , 135 ° 46' 47.8"  O ) in today's Toriya-cho, Kashihara , Nara Prefecture .

It is said from his reign that he sent Ōtomo no Sadehiko to Korea in 537. According to the legend, his wife Matsuura no Sayo Hime said goodbye to him until she turned into a stone. With that she became a symbol of the devoted and faithful woman.
