Sentupada

The Sentupada ( Rhaeto-Romanic for “place of encounter”) by the architect Maurus Frei is the cultural and church center on the village square (historically: Geissenplatz ) in the center of Domat / Ems in the Chur agglomeration in the canton of Graubünden and one of the 7,000's villagescape -Souls community most formative building.

The construction in 2003 was preceded by years of struggle between the church, civil and political communities to grant the loans for the CHF 6.5 million building. The disputes reflected both the close ties between the three instances in the traditionally Roman Catholic Domat / Ems and the fragility of the previous homogeneity .

A broad plaza with cobblestones, on the side of which a particularly old maple tree grows, leads to the cubic building, the facade of which is made of travertine stone . The interior is characterized by a two-story hall with parquet floor . The large window front wants to demonstrate transparency and send out a signal of openness towards the village and society.

The Sentupada offers a wide range of events on adult education and spirituality topics .
