The Serach poet circle included Ludwig Uhland , Nikolaus Lenau , Emma Niendorf , Gustav Schwab , Justinus Kerner , Hermann Kurz , Karl Mayer , Karl August Varnhagen von Ense and Alexander von Württemberg .

From 1831 they met regularly at Esslingen am Neckar at Serach Castle , the summer residence of Count Alexander von Württemberg.
